Well, you have no idea what those items might mean to that guy. I know some people do get things they later wish they hadn't, but I wouldn't necessarily jump to the conclusion that those don't have some meaning/significance to the guy just because they are "brands". Not much different than "advertising" Spawn or some other comic/animated character IMO.
